Rosa María Payá: “Europe is telling us that Cuban activists are not alone” By Council of Europe October 10, 2018
Rosa María Payá is one of the three finalists shortlisted for the Václav Havel Human Rights Prize of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly. Rosa Maria took up the work of her late father, Oswaldo Payá, who sought to gather support for democratic transition in Cuba. She launched a citizens’ initiative called Cuba Decide (Cuba Decides) and is the President of the Latin American Youth Network for Democracy. “With this nomination, Europe is saying that Cuban activists are not alone,” she said, adding that the new Cuban regime is as repressive as it was under Fidel Castro.
